Fetal bovine serum(FBS),Low IgG is widely used in eukaryotic cell culture,typically as a supplement for growthmedia.Fetal bovine serum contains nutritional and embryonic growth promoting factors that are essential for a successfulcell culture.Further,fetal bovine serum contains various small molecules,such as,e.g.,amino acids,lipids,sugars,andhormones.

To reduce/deplete the IgG content below 5μg/ml,the FBS is processed through protein A-Sepharose columns.This processis gentle to the product and ensures an unimpaired growth promotion.The specially treated FBS has a very low IgGantibody concentration and is outstandingly suitable for hybridoma cellculture.Thereby,the IgG stripped FBS facilitatesthe purification of monoclonal antibodies.
